GP Referrals
What information is required?
Referring patients to a psychologist under Better Access (Mental Health Treatment Plan) requires similar information to any other GP referral, with the addition of a statement that a Mental Health Treatment Plan has been prepared, and the number of sessions the patient is being referred for.
- The maximum number of referred sessions within the Initial Better Access items is 6 sessions at a time. A subsequent course of treatment referral can be a maximum of 6 sessions, up to the patient’s cap of 10 sessions per calendar year (e. g . if the patient received 6 sessions in their initial course of treatment, they can only receive 4 sessions in a subsequent course of treatment).
- Sessions can carry over until the next calendar year as long as yearly quotas are not exceeded.
The above information needs to be included on a referral letter before our psychologists can offer services to your patients under the current MBS guidelines. Referrals sent via Medical Objects should be forwarded to our Principal Psychologist Deanne Blackman by searching Provider Number 5708442H.

We are conveniently located in the Maudsland Village shopping complex, just a few doors down from the popular Terrarium Cafe, and across the road from the Coomera Lodge Hotel. Mindwindow Psychology is a short 5 minute drive from Oxenford, Coomera, Helensvale, Pacific Pines and surrounding areas.
Our Therapy Space
Our five therapy rooms have been designed to create a sense of calm as soon as you walk through the door. Low lighting, scented candles, soft furnishings, soothing music, and calming artworks all assist in engaging your senses to bring about a sense of being ‘mindfully present’ as you enter our therapy space. Clients are more than welcome to grab a book from our bookshelf and order a herbal tea whilst waiting for their session to commence.
